CANANA Film Academy

The needed space as generator of shape. The building is a direct result of the analysis of the needed program: 3 movie theaters for XX, one IMAX Theater for XX spectators, film academy y commercial area on the lowest level. The building is transformed by this study according to the heights and slopes that each space needs to function. There are no formal whims to indulge ourselves in, we wanted a pure building that didn’t answer to a mere aspiration of plas- tic design. Four bodies compose the project, coinciding on their edges and leave open spaces at different heights that we use as terraces and connectors between one level and the next.

For the exterior, black rock that unifies shapes, creates unity, a new volume is born, on the interior we wash the building in yellow to reinforce the new piece that now behaves as a truncated prism. An interesting exercise on volume overlay, like a child piling his toys, in the same way we now play, we have fun. The building is our great lemon ice-cream.
